Just found the following email in my inbox (the email's subject is the same as the subject of this topic):
*******************
Dear Alum,
This past June, I wrote to you with news of John Hennessys decision to step down as president of Stanford. In August, the Board of Trustees announced a Presidential Search Committee, chaired by Isaac Stein. As the Search Committee begins its work, I write today to ask for your input on the search for President Hennessy's successor.
Below, I have shared a link to a short survey. We are very interested in learning what our alumni think are the most important qualities and skills to be found in our next president. Once collected, the Alumni Association will share this feedback with the Presidential Search Committee appointed just a few weeks ago. Rest assured that your thoughtful input, especially at this early stage of the process, will prove highly valuable to the search committee. I know that the Presidential Search Committee will provide further updates as the search continues to proceed.

If there's one thing people have learned in Berkeley, it's that you can't put "Cal football" and "Rose Bowl" in the same sentence. The words just don't fit. You'd be better off linking "covered wagons" with "Mars travel." (Bruce Jenkins, Cal '70, SF Chronicle, Nov. 11, 2017)
