Tevin  McDonald his been suspended from playing in the Holiday Bowl because he tested positive for marijuana. The article indicates that McDonald broke a team rule and that the punishment was per UCLA policy. Does anyone know what the NCAA's marijuana policy is? I can't imagine Washington and Colorado testing if it's not on an NCAA ban list.

It is also legal for out of state residents to smoke marijuana in Washington and Colorado. An athlete from another state could do this and then test positive months later in his or her home state.

Certainly opens the possibility the Washington schools and Colorado schools having a recruiting advantage with it being legal to smoke weed in their states.

hardly. UW already announced that their athletes will not be permitted to smoke weed. They did a press release like the day after it was legalized in their state. I'm sure Colorado did the same thing.

Is marijuana legal for residents under the age of 21, as most athletes are?  For that matter, alcohol is also regulated for athletes although it is a legal substance.

This makes more sense.  Even if it is legal, schools can still have a policy to prohibit its use.
