Weddington, our next McCaffrey?
I have been thinking that for awhile, but several other program watchers have suggested to me that once we run out of Love we are more likely going to be featuring the next Toby in Sione Lund.

If Bryce Love does stay, then we are going to have a big stable of running backs to pick from, all of which bring different skills (to some extent) to the table. Even if Love leaves, we will have at least three guys who are legitimate threats. It could be real interesting. We may see many more two back sets.

Through no fault of their own, I have a feeling that whoever replaces Bryce Love when he leaves is going to look pretty pedestrian after McCaffrey then Love. Our fan calibration is way off wrt expectations, that's unavoidable with two  worthy tailbacks in a row.
I don't think we'd be very impressed with Gaffney or Taylor right now if they were the backups.

I dont know about that. Toby, Taylor, and Gaffney didnt have the explosiveness or elusiveness of Love, but they always fell forward, had good vision and you almost never felt like they left yards on the field. On the contrary, they often turned ugly blocking into 3-4 yard gains and almost never lost yards. Compared to Speights and Scarlett right now ( or Seale/wright after they left), their vision, timing, and ability to break tackles was much greater.
Of course Speights and Scarlett will hopefully be much better in a year or two. I remember being very frustrated watching Taylor as a freshman and being frustrated by his inability to break tackles or read the play well. Hopefully they will develop the same way, especially under he tutelage of one of the best RB coaches in the business. What a heist getting Gould was.
