A follow up to my original post.  It's worth mentioning again that Stanford has had remarkable success putting guys in the pros.  In the 4 recruiting classes from 2007-2010, Stanford put 28 of the 80 guys who signed LOIs plus 3 walk-on players into the NFL.  Now, it's true that most of the 31 guys who have played in the NFL haven't gotten rich, but there are a lot of guys who have to be happy about achieving a dream.  When Shaw makes his pitch to recruits, it would not misleading to say that 35% of kids who signed with Stanford in recent classes have ended up in the NFL! 

Here's a list, corrections or additions are welcome:

Trolling a few of the various mock draft sites, I see 3-5 of our guys getting picked, none before the 3rd round.  I suspect that we will have from this class more 2016 roster players than draft picks, as per usual.

The BI folks have wondered on this topic already. I wonder if he'll just follow the long tradition of C.al players and announce his high school or pee wee football team. That might be the most politic decision for him to make regardless. But it will be great if he goes with the program that brought him to the promised land.

The pro football draft has had different numbers of rounds in different years. So comparing the number of draftees in various years isn't always an apples to apples comparison. The 1936 draft had 9 rounds. Three of the 7 Stanford draftees were taken in the 8th and 9th rounds, so only 4 were taken in the first 7 rounds. The most Stanford players taken in a 7-round draft is 6, which has happened four times.

I'm pretty sure Hogan will be drafted.  His size and athleticism will work to his advantage even if his motion and arm strength don't.  I suspect teams will think they can "fix it".  Probably a 4-6 round pick would be my guess.  That's what this site says (I swear my guess was before looking):

Weren't there fewer teams?  More useful would probably be total number of draft picks (which also varies every year in the NFL because of compensatory picks).  For example, in 1936 "Mr. Irrelevant" was pick 81.  In 2015 "Mr. Irrelevant" was pick 256.  It appears the period with the larges drafts was in the 300s in the 40s, dipped in the 60s a bit, ballooned up to the 400s in the '70s (487 in '76!!) then contracted back to the 300s in the '80s and then down to roughly the level it is now in the early '90s.
