Last week Oregon put up 777 yards of offense, breaking their record.  That is a lot of good Oregon teams that this one surpassed.  477 of that was rushing.  Royce Freeman is putting up gawdy numbers on the ground, and Vernon Adams is healthy and is finally looking like all the Oregon qbs of old.  In short, the Oregon offense is looking as good as the best Oregon offenses of the past.

The Oregon defense....that is something else.  They are 116th in scoring defense. 

At the beginning of the season we expected Oregon to be our major competition in the North, but with their losses I think there has been a tendency to breathe a sigh of relief as if they were no longer such a threat.  But with Adams healthy, I think we get an Oregon team that is very, very different from the team that lost three games. 

I am positive our offense can score on their defense.  But it sure looks like their offense can score on any defense.  So it should be a high scoring game, with the outcome possibly determined by who makes the most drive-ending mistakes.  Turnovers, penalties, settling for 3 instead of 7, etc. 

I am worried about winning the game, but if we have national playoffs on the mind, we need to dominate them and not just beat them.  That can only be done if our defense plays especially well and our offense controls the ball for very long stretches.  I am also worried about injuries, especially to Elijah Holder.  I hope he can play.

You don't need to sneak up on the Ducks; you just need to give your guys the ball in a little space.  The Ducks have the worst tackling secondary we've ever seen--when they take good angles.  I've seen the fabled Charles Nelson misread more runs and miss more tackles, in just the three quarters I've seen him play, than I've seen Whitfield and Lloyd miss all year--combined.

Anyone think we'll wear black for this game? I doubt we do it for Big Game, and while the ND game is likely bigger for our season, a win this weekend clinches the north for us. That's a pretty big deal and could justify the black alternates.

I don't think it will be the Big Game, out of respect for tradition. So that leaves Oregon or Notre.Dame. My guess is that we will wear black against Notre.Dame, but that's just a guess. Stanford is undefeated in black:
