I'd be interested in seeing what the expected number of losses are for the champs of the ACC, Big 12, and Big 10 (the SEC is irrelevant to us I think) via one of the various predictors. Wouldn't this be more worthwhile than looking at historical numbers of teams without losses?

But if you're arguing that these rankings are absolute BS I couldn't agree more.
Alabama at number 3 is an absolute scandal. It shows that when it comes to Alabama and the SEC, the committee reserves the right to use whatever subjective mythical SEC biased criteria they cook up. The Pac12 is getting absolutely hosed.
I know it doesn't matter because we have a good chance if we somehow win out, but it still pisses me off.

But they lost to Ole Miss at home and struggled against Tenessee at home. Any other team with the same performance would struggle to crack the top 10.
If you're going to go by perception, I think USC can beat any team in the nation and they would be favoured by Vegas against most. They need to show some consistency, you either do your rankings on Vegas lines, or you do it based on record, but you shouldn't selectively do both.
