The baseball season starts this week and the Cardinal looks like a pretty good team. Any projections?

Yay! Nothing like the start of baseball season to lift my spirits from the depths of a dreary Midwestern winter.

No projections, but high hopes.
Bought tix yesterday for the doubleheader at Rice on Saturday Feb 28. Any other CardBoarders planning to attend? There were still plenty of good seats on the third base side behind the Stanford dugout.
Geaux Cardinal!

I'm a season tix holder. Stanford picked by the coaches to finish 4th. New ball this year, lower seems so it will travel farther. For more info visit the Baseball Board of that other site. :) Â

Will the more favorable ball help a line drive hitter like Hoffpauir?

Ball should travel about 30 farther on a deep fly ball.Â
We shall see Friday.

I'd heavily consider going to the Rice game, but I'll be in the Bay Area that weekend (oh irony). I mean, Stanford's not playing Texas, so my normal fix wasn't in the sched this year :)

Didn't they change the bats a few years out, so that the ball didn't travel as far? Are the new balls meant to counteract that change?

Why oh why do I have to log in each and every time?
The seems were raided after the bats changed several times to eliminate games of 16-15 or so which ended the college world series oh 6 years ago. And for safety. But 2 years ago there was like one HR hit in all the college world series. 4 were hit on the last day of the MLB World Series. So kept the bats lowered the seems. Ball flys farther without the Fins/higher seems.Â
Ah Glenn a 330 out is the same as a 300 foot out at Sunken Diamond. But a ball hit with 20 feet of the fence could now go out.Â

Seems I can't spell seams.
Good story thru AP today on the seams. Quotes 20 feet. Stanford coach estimates 30. Close enough
Anyone going this weekend?

I'm looking forward to the SCU vs. Stanford baseball games, April 14 at SCU and May 5 at Sunken Diamond. SCU played three close games against top-ranked Vanderbilt, winning one of them. Stanford is ranked #24. Should be good games.
