For the last several years, Stanford has ranked in the 20-50 range.
Of course Stanford is also #120 in total number of plays run (though cfbstats unfortunately does not include total plays per game - presumably per game we'd be a little higher - I think #113). We still deliberately play at a slow pace.
But it is certainly true that Stanford is leaning much more heavily towards the pass so far this year. Stanford has run the ball on 53.7% of all plays, which if I remember correctly is Stanford lowest run percentage since 2007 (Harbaugh year 1).
Now I got the impression that Shaw was determined to work on the passing game, particularly vs Army, and maybe the run/pass balance will swing a bit in "real" games. [It was 56% run vs S/C]
