Stanford 99th in rushing attempts per game.

For the last several years, Stanford has ranked in the 20-50 range.

Of course Stanford is also #120 in total number of plays run (though cfbstats unfortunately does not include total plays per game - presumably per game we'd be a little higher - I think #113). We still deliberately play at a slow pace.

But it is certainly true that Stanford is leaning much more heavily towards the pass so far this year. Stanford has run the ball on 53.7% of all plays, which if I remember correctly is Stanford lowest run percentage since 2007 (Harbaugh year 1).

Now I got the impression that Shaw was determined to work on the passing game, particularly vs Army, and maybe the run/pass balance will swing a bit in "real" games. [It was 56% run vs S/C]

A bit skewed by Hogan's sacks and scrambles. I think called pass plays probably account for the majority of plays.

Which pushes things even more in the same direction.

Though if you are interested in the year on year comparison, you must decide if there are more Hogan scrambles this year than others.
