Here\'s a high altitude snapshot from a couple of forays

--Stanford didn\'t win,  USC lost  (they always say this)
-- Truckloads of panties in a wad over Stanford fans storming the field.  It\'s, it\'s, it\'s...it\'s just not done.  USC students never do it.  Why, in the Coliseum the security people will bash your head if you try it.   They didn\'t reflect at all on what deeper meaning this last tidbit might have.
--DC Monte Kiffin is to blame for everything
--The Tampa 2 defense -- the spawn of Monte Kiffin-- is to blame for everything that Monte Kiffin wasn\'t directly blamed for earlier.
--Chris Gallipo got jobbed on the unsportsmanlike conduct call (Baldwin hit)
--The Stanford timekeepers jobbed the Trojans
-- The refs were biased and  Harbaugh suck-ups
--  Stanford fans, like those of all other schools,  are just jealous and want to be like USC.
--  Genuine Oddity:  in postgame comments  WR Woods said  Stanford  "sometimes left me uncovered.".   Either he\'s an exceptionally polite young man in somebody else\'s house or he beat defenders so badly that it just seemed we deliberately left him uncovered.

Oh.....they did give us this:  Stanford is good.  Luck is good.  Some think better than Barkley.  They hate Monte Kiffin so much they think Stanford\'s defense is better than theirs.

They don\'t let the USC students storm the Coliseum field BECAUSE....it ain\'t their field!!!  They borrow it for the day from the City of LA.  LA is just protecting their asset from any possible damage those youthful renters might cause.  That\'s what happens when you are a renter.  If they don\'t like the landlord, then they should buy/build a home.

And in fairness, Kiffin is unquestionably the worst $4 million a year coach in the FBS.  I think everyone wonders why on Earth the USC AD decided to sign Kiffin to such an expensive contract.

Well, the reason Garrett had to shell out the big bucks was because no one else wanted to touch the radioactive carcass that is USC. By the way, if USC fans think it\'s bad now, wait until they\'re not fans three years from now. The announcers kept on mentioning their depth issues this year, but how bad are those depth issues going to be next year, or the year after, when the penalties start kicking in? They\'ll have fewer players next year than this, and so on.

That\'s generally true.  15 is a tough number to work with for 3 consecutive years.

The best long-term solution would be to redshirt almost every frosh on the 2010 roster, so that they can contribute in the dry 2013 - 2015 years.

However, last night\'s biggest star was Woods, a true frosh.  So Kiffin is actually borrowing even more from 2013 and 2014 to try to win today.

To make things worse, many of SC\'s 5 star athletes probably will leave after only 3 years to enjoy the good NFL life they thought they were going to get at SC.  I guess that logic applies to Woods, so they let him play using the assumption that he will leave after 2012 anyway.

2012-2015 could be very lean for SC.!

Of course, all of that assumes that Kiffin has actually cleaned up his act and will not repeat the Tennessee type infractions.

No, I actually did see a couple of plays where Woods was NEVER covered at any time during the route. They were all short routes, and he ended up being tackled in each case by linebackers who rumbled over after the reception -- there wasn\'t even a DB racing over looking shame-faced. Seems like there was some serious kink in the coverage.

Well, at least Woods wasn\'t behind the secondary, as a few Oregon receivers found themselves before scoring touchdowns.  That\'s improvement, isn\'t it?
