I thought the same thing when I read that quote. We may not have the hangers on, but it's been great to see Tiger, Elway, and Plunkett on the sidelines for the recent bowl games, and it won't be long before Andrew Luck feels comfortable enough to be there as well.

Agreed. Beating U S C is thrilling, but at this point beating C A L is more of a relief. And I was lucky enough to be at that '09 U S C game, and I'm not sure anything will ever match the feeling I had during the 4th quarter and immediately afterwards. At the time, and still today, I thought it was the most enjoyable sporting event I had ever attended. After any college game, the two teams usually meet at midfield and players who know one another exchange pleasantries. Not this time. From high in the stands it was fun to watch as the U S C players simply sprinted towards the locker room. Harbaugh noticed and enjoyed it, too. When I watched the game afterwards, you could hear him saying, "Look at them! Look at them run!"

The quote may not have been totally accurate, but what I liked about it was that it showed that JH had been successful in instilling the blue collar, bring your lunchbox to work mentality in his offensive linemen.

Although it has been a while, I am pretty sure I read an article at the time that identified Taylor Mayes, SC's supposedly all-world player who I think benefited from typical SC over-hyping, as the player who said he would walk off the field if we ran power one more time. I don't think it was animosity toward Petey as a person. What I do think Harbaugh was doing was making a statement that the U$C football program was no longer numero uno and that there was a new sheriff in town.
