A few notes on today's practice --
Conor McFadden started with the first team at center. Danser also took reps at first team center, with Garnett playing RG. Wilkes was the second team center today, getting just a few snaps with the first team. Peat took every rep at LT with the first team. Murphy was the second team LT.
There were only two TEs participating in the scrimmage -- Kaumatule and Harrell. Hopkins participated in some drills, but not in the scrimmage. Dudchock was absent.
The receivers with the first team rotated frequently. Those getting first team reps included Montgomery, Cajuste, Young, Trojan, Whitfield, and Rector.
The RBs with the first team were mostly Wilkerson and Wright, with Young occasionally lining up in the backfield. I didn't see Seale today. At FB, Meinken didn't participate.
Lueders was with the first team at OLB. Vaughters was mostly with the second team, though he did have a few first team reps.
Reynolds did not participate. Carrington started at safety with the first team, but Olugbode rotated in and got more first team reps than Carrington.
Lyons started with the first team at CB. Harris got some first team reps. Later, Amanam got some first team reps at CB too. Browning is still out. Pippens was back in action but didn't play much in the scrimmage.
In the scrimmage, the first team defense was very good. They stopped the first team offense on the first 4 or 5 possessions, with several sacks and deflected passes at the line of scrimmage. The first team offense did eventually put some points on the board. Hogan completed a long pass to Young down the left sideline to set up a TD pass to Kaumatule in the left corner of the end zone. Hogan threw an interception, getting picked by Olugbode as he was rolling to the right. Later, Hogan hit Rector down the middle to set up a field goal. Rector got rocked by Richards, but held on (I'm sure Richards was holding back somewhat).
The second team offense did a pretty good job of moving the chains against the second team defense. Crower had a long completion to Crane on the first possession to set up a score. Crower generally was accurate. He connected with Pratt several times. Cummings had some good runs with the second team.
Williamson hit almost every kick. I think I saw him miss just one out of about 10 kicks from 40+ yards. Rhyne clearly was the best punter today. Rhyne also is holding on field goals. The punt returners included Sanders, Montgomery, and Lyons. Sanders did the best job of catching the ball.
