Vermont does have some great beer, but it depends a lot on what you're into. If you like hop-forward pale ales and IPAs, then you're golden. Hill Farmstead, Lawson's, and The Alchemist all make excellent versions of that style. Hill Farmstead also makes a number of good Saisons, if you're into that sort of thing.

Got curious about this Nike SPARQ rating system.  There are some familiar names on this list.  I'm skeptical how relevant this given how different the positions are.  Did notice that Keller's score is about the same as Tebow's was.

As Al Franken said at my sister's Harvard graduation, "You know I think there are people at their deathbed that thought to themselves.  I should have worked harder in my 20s and 30s.  My life would have turned out better."

In my experience, people who worked harder than their peers in their 20's and 30's end up working harder than their peers in their 40's, 50's, and 60's. Hard work begets more responsibility begets more hard work. I'm sure there's the occasional "I hit the dotcom jackpot and now I sit at home all day and play video games" but even those who hit the jackpot seem to go back to the well to see if they can hit it harder the next time. I personally can't fathom how Larry and Sergey can keep motivated with their personal wealth. But I guess that's part of what explains how they founded google and I joined the Fortune 500 after my first start up went bust.

Those who go back aren't necessarily looking for even more wealth; some are probably going back because it's what they like to do most. Larry and Sergey would probably be dreadfully bored sitting at home all day and playing video games, and maybe even more active endeavors like running sports teams, building America's Cup yachts, etc. don't appeal to them.

Well of course it's hit or miss. Predicting how kids will do in four years is an inherently difficult enterprise. It's often made more difficult by the fact that highly rated kids go to the same school. Given Matt Cassel's NFL career, is there much doubt he could've been at least a solid SC QB? I'm guessing no. We may discover the same happy fate if we hit the Rosen/Chryst/Burns trifecta.

I think I saw the stat that 33% of elite 11 QBs get drafted. That's not bad, but 44% of 5-star pro-style QBs and 21% of four-star pro-style QBs get drafted, so it doesn't appear elite 11 has any sort of assessment advantage on the scouting services.

That is a a surprise to me. Is the implication that if these guys got an opportunity to start, that they would be 1st round quality? I don't think so, but it seems like an odd dynamic nonetheless.

Finishing at the top of Elite 11 means that you are the definitely the best of the best at these drills and probably going to be a pretty good college QB in real games.  I'm reminded of something Han Solo once said about Luke Skywalker's light saber practice session: "Look, good against remotes is one thing. Good against the living? That's something else."

To me, stuff like this is like the recruiting stars, another data point that indicates probabilities.  A good crystal ball, not an infallible oracle.  And there's no way to predict/measure qualities that Stanford QBs are known for: leadership, smarts, grit, etc.  For Stanford's recent QB experience here, this is the data. Luck was the runner-up to Blaine Gabbert for Elite 11 MVP.  Kevin Hogan was not at Elite11, but his understudy Evan Crower was.  Ryan Burns got an invite to the finals but it turned it down for a team camp instead.  A statement of leadership.
