I'm gonna suggest a change to our football team motto.
From:
Intellectual Brutality
To:
Hope springs eternal in the human breast;
Man never Is, but always To be blest.
The soul, uneasy, and confin'd from home,
Rests and expatiates in a life to come.
Will need a pretty small font to fit on the helmets though.

Just stop 2 Spartans: RB Bates, and WR Scudero.
Snuff those two guys; that's half their offense.
We get some picks and this could be a romp.
Lose... and the season is over.

I could be wrong, but I think either way there're still 8 games left. . . .
Who will show up if we lose to Sparty in PA?
-- first weekend for new students.
How are Season Ticket holders doin' ?
I think our Defense does the job.

'We get some picks and this could be a romp.'
Hey, do it often enough every week and we're Bowling again.

Life is too short to waste on crap football.
Stats for the starting QBs:
SJSU--Eget, 714 passing yds, 54.7% completion, 3 TD, 3 INT, 115 passer rating, 35.0 QBR (113th nationally)
Stanford--Gulbranson, 723 passing yds, 57.5% completion, 3 TD, 3 INT, 114.7 passer rating, 25.7 QBR (126th nationally)
Looks like a stoppable force vs. a movable object.

If there's one thing people have learned in Berkeley, it's that you can't put "Cal football" and "Rose Bowl" in the same sentence. The words just don't fit. You'd be better off linking "covered wagons" with "Mars travel." (Bruce Jenkins, Cal '70, SF Chronicle, Nov. 11, 2017)

I like those odds. We won't get chances like this often the rest of the season.

I just hope we take this game seriously. 28-24 good guys.
PS I do have a soft spot for San Jose as I spent the first 3 years of my life in that (then) lovely small town. After being born in Beserkley.

I think this team rebounds tomorrow and rolls to an easy win. I think the loss last year left a bad taste in the players mouths and they are ready to avenge. Plus this team is going to show it is a decent football team now.

Sorry, cheerleaders, but this is a game the Spartans can win handily: superior QB, more than capable receivers and a definite edge in coaching. And certainly no "visitor" disadvantage. Just hope Stanford emerges with a clean bill of health. Any injuries to key players will go into the Pyrrhic victory category if it's a Cardinal victory ( which it should be).

Just an aside, but they might have a sellout today. Just checked StubHub, very few tickets remaining.

NO -- per ACC protocol by the hosting team, SJST had to take "Red eye Bus" to Palo Alto last night...
