Terrible loss. And nobody is surprised. They did almost nothing right the last 5 minutes including missing the front end of 3 one and ones. Michael Jones needed to be not on the floor in crunch time.

So same as it ever was. Two or three TOs and a blocked shot on Stanford's last possessions. S Jones looked exhausted to me but he was in the middle of all of them, like they were counting on him but he was too tired. Last shot was Michael Jones with a 3 and he was blocked. Yikes!

Ridiculous.  If anyone deserves to get fired on the tarmac (or at least the parking lot) it has to be Haase.  I'm pretty patient about firing coaches but this is years overdue.  I'll write to Muir but have little faith that it will matter.

I feel sorry for the loyal season ticket holders that waste their days watching that coach.  If they really love basketball they would have been better off going to Haas and watching Coach VanDerveer's squad. 

As an added bonus if they got there early enough they might have witnessed Coach Madsen discuss basketball with Coach VanDerveer.  The would've, could've, should've stuff was hard for me to ignore when they broadcasted that interaction, and now it is literally painful to recall as we experienced another Haase team meltdown.

This game was so typical of so many Haase coached games over the years. No business losing the game yet we did. What do we want to see the rest of the year? I want Haase gone. I do feel for the players many of whom are talented. This program needs a major reset. Look at the crowds in Maples when they play.

And yet haase's teams never ever play as well together as you'd expect based on their individual abilities. It's the same story every year.

I think a very telling symbol of Haase's teams, AZ St had a player that had scored 0 for everything in prior 2 games, and then was scoring 12 pts and counting against us at the time it was noticed in the game. We have an undesirable ability to bring out the best in the other teams.

Even if hiring a new coach is (something of) a "crapshoot," it's hard to believe that a thoughtful and comprehensive (or even wide-ranging) search would yield someone WORSE than the incumbent. It's worth making a serious effort to find a better coach for the players. I doubt that Muir will launch such a search.

With our recent history, 1 NCAA tourney appearance in 16 seasons, the cupboard with regard to talent and the roster isn't completely empty, but it's going to take a major rebuild and culture change. There is major apathy within the MBB fan base and for good reason, not a lot to be excited about. 

I don't know that too many big name coaches would be interested in rebuilding at Stanford. We have our challenges with NIL and the portal and everything else people like to use against us.  

That being said, there's got to be a high quality candidate out there interested in all we have to offer and ready for the challenge. We just need to go find him. Muir can take full responsibility for Haase not working out as planned as he hired him. Do I think he intents to make the same mistake again? I hope not. I hope we spend the money and commit the resources to find the right the person (if this is Haase's last season).
