I'm guessing Jim Swink.
Arnett missed the second half of his senior year because of the cheating scandal over money paid to players at SC, UCLA and Washington. Seniors in 1956 were only allowed to play the first five games scheduled or the second half and the teams were barred from the Rose Bowl. Thus Arnett played the first five and FB CR Roberts the last five. Stanford had a chance but lost to Oregon State (who would go to the RB to lose to Iowa) and then their season fell apart. The next year they lost to Oregon by a point and Oregon went on to lose to OSU 10-7.
Cal had some sanctions over the Ronnie Knox business but no RB ban.

Yes, the Golden Boy drafted first overall, Jon Arnett second, John Brodie third. Jim Brown sixth after Ron Kramer and Len Dawson. Jim Parker eighth, so four hall for famers in the first eight picks.

What a travesty. Typical writers worshipping at the feet of the Domers. Jim Brown by far the best. Scored 27 points himself in the Cotton Bowl loss to Swink and TCU 28-27.
