“I’m entirely confident that Bob’s leadership and training will have me exactly where I want to be for Paris 2024. I believe that, in the long run, this is the best way for me to continue to develop as an athlete.”
Indictment of our program, or something else? Didn't Ledecky also leave Stanford's training program for the University of Florida?

Free Phogge!!!! And no, crimson doesn't refer to the Tide.

Don’t know about Smith, but Ledecky moved to Florida after graduating.

Remember, she was originally from Maryland.

Would have thought we'd have a great "pro" training set up for swimmers using as Avery as a base. Living costs might be a bit prohibitive, as might state income tax. . . .

Interesting way for Bob Bowman (ASU) to deplete his NCAA & PAC-12 opponents: Convince their top swimmers to go pro. Now, if, say, Grant House (ASU) also goes pro, I'll eat my words. But if none of his top swimmers do....
I believe Regan could have transferred to ASU and swum there this year. But I guess she wanted the Stanford degree. I presume her athletic scholarship will now be open, but it is too late for Stanford to try to bring in another top swimmer for this class. Bob Bowman 2, Stanford 0.

... Bob Bowman 2, Stanford 0.
It's hard to tell from press releases, but my sense of the statements made by (or for) Regan is that at this time she is not particularly interested in the Stanford degree or any other degree. She wants to "focus on increasing my training intensity". That may be incompatible with school.
And she's going to swim with a coach who is noted for intensity.
Who is the other Stanford swimmer who has moved to Bowman?
