Yep. Look at the offers. Farhan needs to make the Giants offer irresistible for Rodon.

He is a Boras client. That translates to wait until the last possible minute to secure the last possible dollar. I would expect him to decline the player option year of his contract (which will vest with another 10 innings pitched) and sign with someone in January…..

Another reason to be at the top of the potential signing heap is Rodon’s tenacity and mound presence. He’s a gamer and would serve as a fantastic example to Harrison, Rodriquez, Wright and the other young pitchers on the way up.
This off season re free agents will be critical in Farhan’s chances of long term success as a GM.

Incredibly insightful commentary on KNBR this morning as I was driving around. The Giants could be buyers and sellers over the next few weeks. . . .
Free Phogge!!!! And no, crimson doesn't refer to the Tide.

How cool of the Giants to have outscored their opponent in the last three games by 24 runs, and still managed to lose one of those games...
In other news....
Break up the other black and orange team, the Orioles! They now have a 9-game win streak, are .500, and doing this in the best division MLB has to offer. They too are just 2 GB of 3rd Wild Card spot and slumping Blue Jays. But they are also .5 GB the Mariners who have themselves won 8 straight.
Can we please end the Ohtani MVP talk? I get - and appreciate the hell out of the fact he is so talented in ways we've never seen - but his team SUCKS. They are 12 games under .500, so how exactly can he be considered valuable?

Ask 29 GMs how. They will tell you.

Ernie Banks two in a row on a crappy Cubs team.
What OF needs is to create and fund a new award, “MVP on a winner.”
OF must be a big fan of Jim Konstanty.

WRT Ohtani, this article in the Athletic talks about Ohtani and Trout, and how the Angels continue to have “tungsten arm” games.

I think I might have posted the “tungsten arm” tweet back when Ohtani had that 8-RBI game and the Angels lost.
Crap on him all you want, he is still having the most amazing season of a player since Ohtani’s season last year.

Ralph Terry was the Yankees pitcher. He had a bit more luck in a World Series Game 7 a couple years later.
Giants had a nice walkoff win today. Flores, pinch-hit home run, Crawford had walk-off single. Belt had an HR. Doval got the win, he's 3-4. Sammy Long gave up all three earned runs. Slater 0 for 3 with two strikeouts. 27k attended. Giants now 45-42 and 1.5 back of the Cardinals for the last W/C spot.
