That game was a case study for why the electronic strike zone is coming. Some of the worst ball/strike calls I've ever seen in my life. Just atrocious and embarrassing for any professional sport.
Schwarber took a called third strike in 9th that was clearly outside the zone, and absolutely was justified doing what he did. It's amazing other players didn't erupt earlier in the game.
The Brewers used both their best relievers two games in a row, so might not have them available for Giants tonight.
On the broadcast David Cone said this is the week that would be equivalent to first start of season after a normal Spring Training, so now starting Pitchers should be able to go 100+ pitches. Hoping Rodon goes at least 7 tonight.

Don’t look for Giants starters to throw 100+ pitches. Kapler/Bailey have the best bullpen in the game and use it to great advantage. As Lex has noted, the starters must stay healthy (limiting each of their outings is the prime ingredient to the recipe of good health) for SF to have a chance this year.

Here's a summary of the 5/1/21 game last year, which not only includes three straight strikes thrown by former Giant Mark Melancon against Wilmer Flores, but it includes a summary analysis at to how home plate umpire Adam Hamari favored home team San Diego in the overall strike zone. Incidentally, I seem to recall that the "strikes" thrown to Flores all measured between 2.5" and 3.5" outside the strike zone, using radar.

It's pretty easy to adjust the strike zone to the height of the player. The width will never change. And the fact is most of the calls that are missed are the horizontal plane, not the vertical one. Doesn't mean the umps don't make incorrect calls up or down, but I see way, way more pitches missed inside or outside.

Time to put the Suzuki matter to rest. Recently, Andrew Baggerly wrote an article about the topic in The Athletic. In essence, Suzuki had some concerns about signing with SF. There were related to non-financial personal issues. My reading of the article implied that SF was definitely in the ballpark with the numbers and was very interested in signing him. Unfortunately for the Giants, not everyone wants to live and work in SF.
