Yup, 21 pitches. There’s been a 22 pitch PA in spring training, but Belt’s was the longest during a game that counted.

Who has the known record for most pitches in an inning? (I say known because pitch counts at this granularity have only been kept since 1988).

Tony Ralphs, grandson of the founder of Ralphs supermarkets. Specialties were canoe and kayak. He was also an accomplished long distance swimmer. Eight years after the Olympics, he founded the orphanage.

Of course, there are no records of how many pitches batters saw in a single at bat prior to the modern era. I suspect guys like Willie Keeler saw a ton of pitches back in the day…..
