New trivia.
Who threw out the last Giant hitter in the last Polo Grounds game in the Giants last NYC season, 1957. Had to be perfectly clear for BC because the Giants played a bunch more games at Coogans Bluff after the Mets arrived.

"Big Poison" Paul Waner was a doubles machine, 602 in his career. 200+ hits in eight seasons. "Little Poison" Lloyd Waner wasn't quite as accomplished but made the HoF anyway.
To me, it's still the DiMaggios. All three brothers made multiple all star teams. And if Lloyd Waner makes the HoF (voted in by Vet's Committee), then Dom DiMaggio should as well.
Here's the career stat lines for Lloyd Waner and Dom Dimaggio. Both were excellent OFs with multiple seasons leading their respective leagues in putouts, assists, double plays and range factors. But just one's in the HoF:
Dom DiMaggio: 298/.383/.419/.802, 33.1 Career WAR in 11 seasons
Lloyd Waner: .316/.353/.393/.747, 27.9 Career WAR in 18 seasons
BTW, both Waners and all three DiMaggios played for the San Francisco Seals. Both Waners were on the 1925 Seals and there was at least one Waner on the Seals between 1923 and 1927. Vince and Joe arrived at the Seals a few years later in 1932 when they were 19 and 17 years old, respectively.

Important place in our family history as my mom was baptized, given first communion, confirmed and buried from there. Vince used to attend SF Oldtimers Baseball monthly dinners and I was a barfly entranced by stories from the older guys during cocktail hour. San Francisco has a rich baseball history but there hasn’t been much since Mike Norris pitched for the A’s.

Dick Groat threw out the last Giants hitter in 1957. Traded to the Cards from the Pirates he won the NL MVP in 1964.

Johnny O'Brien was the second baseman to Groat's SS. Twin brother Eddie O'Brien was a teammate.

Definitely not the '52 and '53 sets which I have. The '51 set was small and hard to find. I have only two cards.
Not there for the Trotters but I did see the Goose/Marcus Haynes team play at the Cow Palace. I attended the '58 Western regionals when Elgin hit the long shot at the buzzer to beat the Farmer/Boldt/Gene Brown 25-1 USF team in the semis and the overtime championship game Seattle vs Cal. Kentucky beat Seattle in the NCAA final.
I'll think about the twins.
