I am beginning to believe that the SEC and ACC will really start playing football this year.    My guess is they could declare that other sports will be delayed because too many opponents for their schools have already opted to postpone to the spring term.    Conveniently allowing them to have a football only fall term.

I doubt they could finish the season, but each weekend would give the SEC & ACC TV revenue.  Most of the SEC schools simply don't have meaningful endowments to even temporarily replace lost revenue, and the state budgets have a lot of other groups looking for COVID19 related relief.

I would think so. 

"The Plan" would be to offer those sports at some point during the academic year, so it is not as if they were denied a chance to play.  Even in a normal year if one looks at scholarship and participant numbers for just the fall sports, a lot of schools would have significant gender imbalances.   I believe most ACC and many SEC teams have field hockey or women's volleyball, so if they had to offer at least one women's sport they probably could make that happen.

I really didn't believe that the SEC and ACC would push forward with the testing and hospitalization issues in Florida, but we are now close enough to the season that it appears they will just do it as long as FL deaths are "only" a few hundred or so a day.
