I'm glad people are mobilizing to contact the Pac-12 about their idiocy. Thanks RJ_82 for starting it. This is the email that I sent to Pac-12 people from the directory at

Subject: UCLA Football targetting. NCAA Crown of Helmet starts above facemask
To: dhirsch@pac-12.org, dcoleman@pac-12.org, lscott@pac-12.org, jzaninovich@pac-12.org, wdixon@pac-12.org, jalfieri@pac-12.org
Dear Dave Coleman, David Hirsch, Larry Scott, Jamie Zaninovich, Woodie Dixon, and Jamie Alfieri,
During the 9/24 Stanford-UCLA football game, UCLA's Tahaan Goodman repeatedly targetted Stanford players with illegal and vicious helmet-to-helmet hits. The worst one resulted in Stanford's Francis Owusu suffering a concussion. Yet, officials and replay officials declared the hit legal, and the Pac-12 later issued a public statement stating that the hit was legal because, "the contact was with the front of the helmet and not the crown (top) of the helmet."
The NCAA has issued a statement explicitly stating that "It seems that some officials have been interpreting the crown of the helmet to mean the tip-top portion of the helmet only...We want everyone to understand that the crown of the helmet starts from the area above the facemask to the dome of the helmet."
For the safety of our players and for the integrity of the conference, you need to do the right thing, namely:
1. Immediately issue a public statement admitting that the officials, replay officials, and Pac-12 Officiating all made errors and misinterpretted the rules.
2. Immediately charge UCLA's Tahaan Goodman with targetting and suspend him appropriately.
3. Take steps to learn the rules properly and protect the players so that this doesn't happen again. There were numerous times when Tahaan Goodman illegally targetted Stanford players with the CROWN of his helmet (directly above the facemask). Had Goodman's illegal hits been correctly called earlier, then Francis Owusu would not have a concussion due to Pac-12 negligence.
http://www.ruleoftree.com/2016/9/25/1304...last-night has an excellent article on the illegal hits.
It is embarrassing that the Pac-12 did not know the rules and allowed this to happen. It is time to correct your mistakes.
