If we have Musberger, then why can't they bring back Keith Jackson and his "350 pound soph-O-more" line?!    I loved that guy and he had some Stanford ties as well.  His son Chris was an undergrad with us in the 80's - great guy!  I thought Keith may have lived near Pasadena?

No confusion.  Palmer is Pollack light AFAIC.  I've not heard him much this year due to attending 9 of the 14 games in person, but when I've heard him do Stanford games he is not nearly as complementary as he is of the opponent.  And when he gets interviewed on the ESPN shows he is far more effusive about other Power 5 conferences than he is about the Pac-12, but that's my opinion the fact base may have changed some this year.  People can evolve :)

As I recall, he never tried to hide his exasperation with whatever coaching follies he was witnessing. It made for entertaining television.

For my money, Chris Spielman's the best color guy in college football these days. Maybe Charles Davis or Chris Collinsworth at the NFL level, though the pro game has been pretty boring this year (so I haven't paid attention.)

Harlan is a terrific play-by-play guy . . . in pretty much any sport.

Summerall was great due to his minimalist approach.  His play by play would be along lines of "Montant . . to Taylor.  First down."  And better yet, he was fine being absolutely silent and letting the crowd noise and player reactions caught on the camera do "the talking" for him.  A lost art in this era.

Can't stand Collinsworth because he just seems like such a smug a-hole, though his analysis is decent. Spielman is good, and I think Fowler and Herbie are pretty good too. I like Gilmore a lot.
