Hogan looks like he has improved his throwing mechanics.  He used to have a brobdingnagian Tim Tebow type windup on medium length throws, and he shotputted his long balls.  Now his windup is much less pronounced and more importantly, he uses much more wrist in his throwing motion than he used to.  In addition, his accuracy has improved tremendously, both vertically and horizontally. Whether he will be consistent over the long haul remains to be seen, and he may get into trouble throwing into double coverage. However, in the short term, there has been a marked improvement.

One of my buddies (brobdingnagian college football fan, not a Stanford alum) loves to imitate Hogan's throwing motion - I agree with you, DC. My buddy hasn't seen Stanford this season, and I'm eager to hear what he thinks of Hogan's throwing motion.

Here's a wrinkle--and I wonder if others agree.

Steph qualifies as a naive observer; she knows very little about football but loves to watch Stanford play and win.

She said that before the Oregon State game, she'd never seen Kevin shuffle up out of pressure, keep his eyes downfield, and find a short receiver with a snap throw.  He did it at least twice in that game, one a key strike to Hooper, I think.

Anyone else have that reaction?

I definitely think Hogan'a pocket presence has been better. He's both moving in the pocket with his eyes downfield and getting through the progression more consistently.

It certainly helps that he has good reason to have more confidence in the OL.

If she's watching Kevin's movements in the pocket and field vision, she knows more than she thinks she does.
