Growing up a swimmer, I spent a fair amount of time with our divers in high school, but most of the other years, my teams had no divers. 

Growing up a swimmer in another country, I never thought that diving and swimming were the same sport.

In fact, never really thought about diving at all - except perhaps while making some crazy leaps off the boards at the end of practice.
