It took Will.ingham 10 minutes, not 10 years, to shed himself of any residual loyalty to Stanford. He conceivably roots for us in games against Washington and the University of Dead Fake Girlfriends, but I'm sure that's the limit of his fandom.
I'd say 10 seconds

OK, sure, but it took less than 10 years for him to realize there is something special about Stanford. Stanford was not his alma mater, so I remained so perplexed about the situation here. Have none of you split up with a partner/employer? It is never easy, and inevitably the other party feels hurt and betrayed. Those that carry a grudge for too long just look pathetic, and especially in this situation given the relative success of Stanford and TW over the last several years.
I personally expect every football or basketball coach to move on almost immediately, so I guess I am more forgiving of the history. Dawkins, for example, is here until he wins and then he will be gone in less than 10 seconds. I will bet good money that when a newly successful Dawkins leaves he will immediately point out that Stanford will never be able to have sustained Duke University type success, unlike "insert name of future employer school here". And I think many of us found it troubling when Dawkins talked too glowingly about Duke during in his early years. Far better to forget that old program and praise your new employer, especially if your new employer has that other program on the schedule. FWIW - At least TW won while he was at Stanford and gave "us" 7 Big Game wins. I only wish Dawkins could have given us 7 consecutive wins over any major rival before he jumps out of Maples.
Also, FWIW2, during the Oregon game few were more passionate in my section than "Ty". As Stanford still lacks a super loyal season ticket fanbase, I am happy to have him in my section.
I don't expect him to cheer for Stanford during the Rose Bowl, but my guess is he would if Michigan State were not the opponent. There are not many at Stanford that can honestly say they have done more for the program and that is before his "contributions" to ND and UW which have actually helped Stanford too.
