At this hour the text -- from the same misleading url spelling -- fetches this version of events..
Quote:Despite earlier reports from a U.S. Forest Service spokesperson, another Forest Service official has confirmed that there is no indication that the Cal Alumni Associations Lair of the Golden Bear camp burned down Sunday in the Rim Fire.
Dick Fleishman, an information officer with the U.S. Forest Service, said that the Rim Fire was not in the immediate vicinity of the Lair of the Golden Bear camp but confirmed that a camp in the Yosemite area, the city of Berkeley-operated Tuolumne Camp, was destroyed.
The Rim Fire has been burning in Stanislaus National Forest since Aug. 17 and covers 134,000 acres [++], according to the U.S. Forest Service. As of Sunday, the fire was 7 percent contained, and more than 2,850 personnel are battling the blaze.
The City of Berkeley ordered the Tuolumne Camp shut down Tuesday because of the fire. Campers and employees at the Lair of the Golden Bear were evacuated Thursday afternoon after a report from the U.S. Forestry Service detailed hazardous air quality, including ash and soot in the air.
