Last season the ACC sent 10 women's tennis teams to NCAAs, including:

Clemson 4-8 (T9th) 14-11 (38) [lost to #16 seed Syracuse in only ACC tourney game]
Wake Forest 3-9 (13th) 15-11 (40) [Beat #11 seed SMU, lost to #6 seed Notre Dame]

Stanford tied for 7th in the ACC (with a 7-5 conference record) and is 12-9 overall. Their most recent ITA rank was 33.  Does Stanford really need a win over an 8 seed (or even a 1 seed) in order to get a bid?  Is something making it more difficult this year to qualify?

Stanford last week was ranked 47. This week 33. I have no idea why the team moved up 14 places after beating Cal and losing to SMU. Who's to say that the team won't drop back into the 40s if they lose to SMU? Should Stanford remain in the 30s, they should make the tournament. Fall into the 40s and it's dicey.
