Stanford women's tennis is down to 40 in the ITA rankings. Truly stunning for a program that has won nearly half of the NCAA championships ever competed. There is a very real possibility of this team missing NCAAs entirely.
Valerie Glozman has returned to the lineup playing doubles only so far. No idea if she will be able to play singles. Doubles is still weak as is #6 singles where Shaffer and Sun are a combined 2-10. Driscoll, who was such a pleasant surprise last year after transferring midyear from Denver, has struggled at #3 where she is 3-7. Without reliable play at doubles, 3 and 6, Stanford is often down 2-0 or 3-0 even to lesser teams.
This looks like women's basketball. A team that used to be among the sport's best now struggles in the middle of the conference and is not really competitive with top 25 opponents. It could be a long term slide. Stanford has signed 2 recruits for next season.
