The embarrassment for me isn't construction or permitting delays. It's that whoever is in charge from the Stanford side was ignorant (apparently) regarding the necessary permits to the point that Stanford played an entire weekend in the renovated stadium before learning about the permitting issue. That has to be on Stanford, not Santa Clara County, I think.
Exactamente. As I said before, <every> capital project has a school/university-assigned PM who is responsible for getting bills paid, signing off on project milestones - including on permit-related issues - etc. on behalf of the university, JA, or no JA. One of the business units in my management portfolio was the University Fire Marshall's Office, which is the gatekeeper for all facility project reviews by the County, and the is the first snafu of this sort I've ever heard of - totally sounds like an internal lapse to me.
Maybe that's why Alden got let go.
