2026 Stanford Softball - Papa John - 02-05-2026
Anyone make it to the inaugural game of the 2026 season and Stanford Softball Stadium? I caught bits and pieces on ACCX while I was getting other work done.
Stanford scored in the first inning and never trailed although the Cowgirls scored two in the sixth inning to cut the lead to 3-2. Stanford scored an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth.

I was there a great opening night for the new stadium
Seats are great extremely comfortable and where I sit have a table along side of me. There with 5 other great friends to enjoy the win

Thanks for the report, BobK. Softball has come a loooooong way from what it was back in the early to mid 1980s. I remember watching them play a few times on Roble Field. Not a stadium, just a field.

I watched the game on ACCNx. I thought it was unusual that there wasn't centerfield view of the pitches. Instead, there was either a side view or a back view. Was this a production decision or because there lacked a platform for the centerfield camera?
With the views they showed, it was hard to tell the balls from strikes.

The addition of the drone camera was cool and fun but it made me dizzy. I was hoping for a bigger turnout for the opening game

Stanford hosting San Jose State today, Friday, at 5:00pm on ACCNX. I hope to watch some of it and get caught up on Stanford's pitching hierarchy this season.

So far 4 different starters. Houston the closer well one game she pitches 3 innings
So all 5 pitchers have pitched several innings. Last night Frosh Krause with a complete game

Stanford beat Cal 7-2 this afternoon to sweep all 5 games at the Stanford Invitational. What a way to kick off the new season and new stadium!

Great start to the season for softball with some big home games coming in with Texas, Arizona, Oregon, Kentucky all coming to the new stadium. Next few weeks will give a good gauge of this team's capabilities. For now, can't beat 5-0.

Yes, a better gauge of the team will be against top 20 teams.

Stanford hosts the Cardinal classic Thursday through Sunday. Kentucky, Cal State Fullerton, Cal Poly SLO, and Oregon (15). Oregon was a top-5 preseason pick but had a rough opening weekend--wins over Missouri and Liberty, losses to Clemson, Tennessee and SE Louisiana.
The schedule at gostanford.com doesn't show any of the games being broadcast. Anyone have more information about this?
