Maverick Handley

"Baltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman will be out through the All-Star break, and the team lost another catcher when Maverick Handley left Sunday's game against the New York Yankees in the second inning following a collision at the plate with Jazz Chisholm Jr."

Tough break for Mav.  He had a chance to get some regular playing time with Rutschman out for awhile (on the 10 day IL as of June 20), but Handley went on the 7-day IL on June 23.  He was replaced on the Orioles roster by Forever Giant Chadwick Tromp.  

Maverick is one of my favorite Stanford players of recent years.  Like me, he's from the Denver area.  We were both on the same flight from San Jose to Denver in December of his final year at Stanford and I had the opportunity to talk with him a bit.  He came across as a great guy.
