Indeed yes! Stanford has been so dominant lately that I forgot that they were the #1 seed going into match play in 2022. It turns out that if the Cardinal finish tomorrow in 1st it would be the 5th year in a row with Stanford winning the stroke play competition at NCAAs.

But there will be drama tomorrow for the tv audience to follow. First will be the competition for the individual title. Then there will be the scrum for the final spot or spots to qualify for match play.

The cream has risen to the top of the leaderboard. 10 of the top 12 teams in the Clippd rankings are currently in the top 12. Only missing is #7 Wake Forest and #12 LSU.

I am excited that 3 Stanford golfers are currently in the top 10. They are very competitive people, but I hope that they don't expend all of their energy vying for the individual title. You need plenty of gas in the tank to get through match play, especially Tuesday which could include 36 holes. I think that fatigue caught up with Rose Zhang in 2023 when she hit some uncharacteristic loose shots on the way to losing the afternoon semifinal match to Brianna Navarrosa of USC.

Is Anne Walker the best coach currently at Stanford? Thom Glielmi and John Tanner have more NCs. But they compete in sports which have a limited number of NCAA teams. What Coach Walker has done and continues to do is very, very impressive.
My vote is a Yes.  She is obviously a World Wide Recruiter and her own background probably contributes toward here ability to attract those talented women who come to Stanford to play for her. Our Softball Coach deserves a nod for what she has accomplished in a short period of time. 
Men's gymnastics is pretty fair also and in a couple of years we will know a lot more about what Kyle Smith can do. 
I have no idea what sort of equipment and attire payments lady golfers can earn. Most of the team is in the top 30 of the worlds female amateur golfers. Technically I don't think amateur golfers can get paid except through NIL deals, but I assume some our players are probably making a tidy sum from such earnings, but maybe not. Right now I vote for Walker as Women's Coach of the Year.  Every year she does this make Stanford more likely to continue to attract similar talent.
