Seriously, this isn't the end of the world, but I really do believe black uniforms at night are a bad idea if it costs Hogan a half second to properly find and gauge his receivers. If he's sacked in that half-second....  Oh, well.
I'll note that our victories in black were a Luck-led team over a completely overmatched Wake Forest and a daylight game against a mostly overmatched Duke team. If the boys were feelin' the boost black unis supposedly gave them vs. Duke, they weren't really making it very evident.
Just win baby.
I'm pretty sure the Duke game was a night game, not a daylight game. So if I'm remembering correctly, the black uniforms have only been used for night games (and indeed, I think I remember reading that they were planning to use them only for night games). In any case, I doubt the uniforms affect visibility much, and even if they do, that cuts both ways (when Boise State wore blue uniforms on a blue field, some people complained that might make their players less visible and thus give them an advantage -- the exact opposite of the argument people are making here).
By the way, there are also some academic studies that suggest that wearing black makes athletes more aggressive and makes them play harder, but also makes them more likely to be penalized. I wouldn't put a lot of weight on the results from those studies (they don't have a controlled experiment or anything like it), but they're still interesting to think about.
