They might go after Mason.  The wildcard is just-fired Gene Chizik.  He jumped ship w/  Longhorns for his first HC job at Iowa St., then got the equivalent of being hit by a meteor from space:  an offer to be HC in the SEC despite a 5-19 record.  Now he's done after 3 yrs. w/ Auburn.  BUT everywhere he goes the defenses seem to get better, in some cases much better.  If Mack Brown isn't hacked off at him,  Chizik could return there and odds are he could help them in a hurry.  But, he's being paid to go fishing for a couple of years and may not want the UT job.  Which brings us back to Mason.  UT would be a big step up in pay and visibility,  exposure that could set him up for a head coaching job  (if one hasn't come along already).
