Shaw is also a young head coach with time and capacity to learn on the job.

When I compare not just the results but the game plans for the two Oregon games, I see an intelligent coach learning from his (few) failures and building a platform to win against the elite programs of our time.  This is a good thing particularly for Stanford.  I may grouse about conservative calls, QB handling and the end game at the Fiesta Bowl but I'm proud he's our guy, I'm proud of the guys he leads, he's successful and I expect him to get even better as he grows into the job.

All of which must be scary thoughts for our opponents.

Hey, anyone envy the B.ear fans just now?
