I drove 5 north from LA to the Bay Area once. It was desperately boring. (Also desperately lacking in rest stops when I needed one!)

Every exit has a rest stop . . . .

I meant a rest room. Mine ended up being a tree.

I new exactly what you meant. An expert tip--exit the highway and head to the on-ramp. As most of the exits connect to an overpass, as you head down the on-ramp, pull off to the side, there you're pretty much shielded from view from at least the traffic going your direction. . . .
