It would help if our dysfunctional congress could get more relief out the door for the people who are suffering the worst effects of the pandemic.  Not that we can't borrow the money at record low interest rates, but I certainly wouldn't mind if my taxes had a "we're all in this together pandemic surcharge" to cover the costs of supporting people through the worst.

Attached is an image that shows the relative paucity of the U.S. relief to individuals.

As a counterpoint, I've seen a chart that shows the U.S. has actually committed a relatively high percentage of it's GDP to stimulus.  It simply hasn't taken the form of direct payments to citizens.
