Well #33 may be a long time coming for many people
Amazon told employees who can to work from home to do so until at least 02 Oct 2020

I had an email exchange with someone at my employer about going back to the office
- it will be months not weeks
- it will be gradual
- it will be very different, things like some required work from home days, conference rooms reconfigured (ones that hold 8 people now will allow 3 people), one way aisles, box lunches for purchase in the cafeteria, metered use of the breakrooms and bathrooms (not sure how this will work). stairways one direction (our buildings have two), occupy only some of the cubes (every 3rd or 4th one depending on the size of the cubes), clean desk policy to enable more frequent deep cleaning......given these restrictions I can see most people who can effectively work from home continuing to do so
I also think that at least my employer is seeing at least a short term uptick in worker productivity. Most people seem to have turned their commute time into work time. I know I have had a lot more calls starting at 7am than I did when I was going into the office, not sure how long that will remain the norm.
I agree with you. I have received a similar message from my company, though they haven't stated specifically how the buildings will be reconfigured to minimize infection transmission, just that adjustments will have to be made before people will be allowed back in. But the general message that it will be a gradual process that will occur over the course of months seems baked in. I also know that my function will be one of the last, since we can carry out almost all of our job functions from home. But I've known this from early on, when the company put together a program of about $1000 per employee to outfit our home offices.
Like you, I've also seen more meetings pop up during what would otherwise be commuting hours. I already had a share of meetings in the early morning (side effect of working in a Swiss company), but many people used to take the commuter bus home after 3, so we almost never had 4 pm meetings. Now I occasionally do.
