I'm going to assume West is the starter because that's how this season is going for Stanford. If the steelers can thrash the Chargers with their 3rd string QB, so too can Stanford extended the win streak over the baby bears.
If West is the starter look for Shaw to try to control the clock and the game by running the ball. If we can do that with a predominantly freshman OL I will be impressed.
Fixed it for you.

I realize that is Shaw's MO, but it will be particularly true if West is the QB.
Hope West works out, because we may be seeing a lot of him in the next year and a half, especially if Costello decides to leave after this year. Mills, for all his talents, simply can not stay healthy.
It isn’t worth anything and I have no credentials as a football player, coach or scout, but at 2 or 3 open practices, I was more impressed with West than any of our QBs.
His accuracy on both touch passes and tight-window passes was impressive. He hit Parkinson in the slot with a 25–yard bullet that was reminiscent of Luck, dare I say. It was just drills and scrimmages, but he sure seemed to have all the tools.
It sucks that Mills is hurt again - he certainly deserved more starts - but I’m excited to see what West can do in a game.
I know that some have bemoaned our lack of QB recruits in some classes, but the quality level has been extremely high as measured by recruiting rankings. Costello, Mills, McKee and West were all highly coveted by many of the best programs.
West’s inexperience might hurt, but he would only be building experience for some future season when the stakes might be higher.
