Are any other players similarly close? My guess is Chase Thomas could finish well up there, but I have to confess I have no idea what Stanford's all-time sacks records look like.
You're right about Stepfan Taylor. He needs 1,264 rushing yards to pass Darrin Nelson in career rushing yards. That would be in the same range as what Taylor did last two seasons (1,137 yards and 1,330 yards):
Career rushing yards
4,033Â Darrin Nelson
3,522Â Toby Gerhart
2,940Â Brad Muster
2,770Â Stepfan Taylor
Taylor needs 17 rushing TDs to catch Gerhart in career rushing TDs, and he needs 14 total TDs to catch Gerhart in total TDs. He scored 16 TDs in 2010 (15 rushing), and 12 TDs in 2011 (10 rushing).
Career Rushing TDs
44Â Toby Gerhart
37Â Tommy Vardell
27Â Brad Muster
27Â Stepfan Taylor
24Â Darrin Nelson
Career Total TDs
44Â Toby Gerhart
40Â Darrin Nelson
37Â Tommy Vardell
33Â Brad Muster
31Â Vincent White
30Â Ken Margerum
30Â Stepfan Taylor
If Taylor were to score 17 TDs, he would tie the school record for career points scored:
Career points
282Â Eric Abrams
268Â Toby Gerhart
254Â John Hopkins
252Â Mark Harmon
242Â Darrin Nelson
239Â Mike Sgroi
236Â Ken Naber
224Â Tommy Vardell
216Â Mike Biselli
213Â Nate Whitaker
200Â Brad Muster
197Â Rod Garcia
188Â Vincent White
180Â Ken Margerum
180Â Stepfan Taylor
Taylor had 1,512 all purpose yards this year. If Taylor were to get about the same amount of yards next year, he would end up 4th in school history in career all purpose yards:
Career All Purpose Yards
6,885Â Darrin Nelson
5,857Â Glyn Milburn
5,390Â Troy Walters
4,662Â Vincent White
4,624Â Brad Muster
3,917Â Toby Gerhart
3,874Â Anthony Bookman
3,842Â Chris Owusu
3,731Â Mike Mitchell
3,463Â DeRonnie Pitts
3,278Â Stepfan Taylor
