Leaderboard question - washingtonismoney - 01-09-2012

We know with Stepfan's exceptional Fiesta Bowl that he's within striking distance of the career rushing record for Stanford. Are any other players similarly close? My guess is Chase Thomas could finish well up there, but I have to confess I have no idea what Stanford's all-time sacks records look like.

You're right about Stepfan Taylor. He needs 1,264 rushing yards to pass Darrin Nelson in career rushing yards. That would be in the same range as what Taylor did last two seasons (1,137 yards and 1,330 yards):

Career rushing yards

4,033  Darrin Nelson
3,522  Toby Gerhart
2,940  Brad Muster
2,770  Stepfan Taylor

Taylor needs 17 rushing TDs to catch Gerhart in career rushing TDs, and he needs 14 total TDs to catch Gerhart in total TDs. He scored 16 TDs in 2010 (15 rushing), and 12 TDs in 2011 (10 rushing).

Career Rushing TDs

44  Toby Gerhart
37  Tommy Vardell
27  Brad Muster
27  Stepfan Taylor
24  Darrin Nelson

Career Total TDs

44  Toby Gerhart
40  Darrin Nelson
37  Tommy Vardell
33  Brad Muster
31  Vincent White
30  Ken Margerum
30  Stepfan Taylor

If Taylor were to score 17 TDs, he would tie the school record for career points scored:

Career points

282  Eric Abrams
268  Toby Gerhart
254  John Hopkins
252  Mark Harmon
242  Darrin Nelson
239  Mike Sgroi
236  Ken Naber
224  Tommy Vardell
216  Mike Biselli
213  Nate Whitaker
200  Brad Muster
197  Rod Garcia
188  Vincent White
180  Ken Margerum
180  Stepfan Taylor

Taylor had 1,512 all purpose yards this year. If Taylor were to get about the same amount of yards next year, he would end up 4th in school history in career all purpose yards:

Career All Purpose Yards

6,885  Darrin Nelson
5,857  Glyn Milburn
5,390  Troy Walters
4,662  Vincent White
4,624  Brad Muster
3,917  Toby Gerhart
3,874  Anthony Bookman
3,842  Chris Owusu
3,731  Mike Mitchell
3,463  DeRonnie Pitts
3,278  Stepfan Taylor
