No!!!  Put him at ILB and leave him there to learn the position and grow.  Mixing and matching with where will he will play and special packages is a recipe for failure.  Stanford does not have a great recent history of changing a players position. 

Exciting! I was skeptical at first because there is so much to learn, and then I watched his HUdl video and I was like wow! Maybe! I can’t remember the last time I saw such an excitng nontraditional prospect in football.

He seems closer to contributing as a fb — he can run, he can hit, and he can catch. He seemed greener on defense, and he stood up quickly and over-pursued at times, and frequently arm tackled, and the offenses in the pac 12 will be a beast to prepare for, even more so with Chip Kelly back.

Plus, as a fullback, he offers the punt threat. Imagine it’s fourth and short on the 50, and Stanford sends in the ogres and two running backs including Miezan. Is it a run or a punt? Do you stack the line or do you need to commit a safety deep so you don’t get pinned inside the 5? As a special circumstances player, if he can get more fb basics quickly, it might even make it worth burning his redshirt for the midfield, fourth-and-short Miezan package.
