Class of 2018 - Bruce Wang - 05-08-2015

Is this the first offer for a member of the Class of 2018?

https://twitter.com/Im_showtime_/status/596030990058917888?p=v

http://247sports.com/Recruitment/Tyreke-Johnson-33838/RecruitInterests

Pretty impressive offer list especially for somebody this young.

BTW I found this from Hank's retweet. I have not seen it reported elsewhere yet.  So Hank's really the person to break this news.

Re: Class of 2018 - kuz - 05-08-2015

Unfortunately it's not true though; we haven't actually offered him yet, according to Andy Druk.

Alabama QB with impressive offers already.  Best part "never got a B on a report card, and I plan to keep it that way".  Sounds like a Stanford kid to me.

Re: Class of 2018 - StannyBoy - 09-06-2015

Jack West is now on the clock.

with obvious Stanford interest - FrankO - 02-05-2016

lots to like

Re: Class of 2018 - Trenton Charles - BigEasyCard - 02-20-2016

Trenton Charles' 4.39 40, 4.5 GPA have LSU's, Stanford's attention

http://www.nola.com/recruiting/index.ssf/2016/02/trenton_charles_ull_stanford.html#incart_river_home

"I've always wanted to go to Stanford, because I knew they had a good blend of both academics and athletics, and it's always been academics first," he says. "I had to be about 5, and I was watching 'em play. And it looked fun out there, because you know it's way out there in California, and it looks fun over there. And my dad said, 'They're some smart people, too,' and he's been pushing it ever since."

Geaux Cardinal!

Re: Class of 2018 - Durty Nelly - 04-07-2016

New Stanford offer to WR Amon-Ra St. Brown.  Maybe we will get both brothers.

Re: Class of 2018 - BobK - 05-11-2016

Seems we didn't offer Ohonba.  Per a source

Is this sort of miscommunication common?  I have, obviously, no idea who communicated/listened badly, but he appears to think he has an offer.

More common than you'd think. Anything from the misinterpreting general noncommittal recruiting for an actual verbal offer (this happened with Bailey Hockman a year ago), to confusing Stanford with Samford(!), to just straight up lying about it on Twitter to get coaches from other programs more interested.

No idea in this particular case. But no Stanford coaches are following Ohonba on Twitter. He doesn't actually have an offer.

I never paid a whole lot of attention to recruiting, other than looking through the class that signed each NSD.  I have learned so much since I started reading the Cardboard.  This is just another example.  8)

Re: Class of 2018 - Bosco - 05-17-2016

Regardless, looks like we offered 2018 RB:

Clearly taking his cues from Joshua Garnett:

"The University of Stanford is in Palo Alto, California...I'm going to take my talents to the University of Stanford."

Re: Class of 2018 - fullmetal - 05-17-2016

Just another future All-American player in need of some education :)

Re: Class of 2018 - yvonne - 05-27-2016

I posted this on the main board because it's Steve Stenstrom's son, but 2018 recruitniks may be interested to learn that Blake Stenstrom, who's playing behind Dylan McCaffrey, will be camping at Stanford this summer.

Since Dylan has already committed, it will be interesting to see if the Valor coach gives Blake some serious playing time this fall to help him get more offers. Then again, Valor Christian plays a lot of games where the outcome gets decided early, so the backups play quite a bit anyway. I recall Christian sat out a lot of second halves because the score was so lopsided.
