Unfortunately, one of those recruits that we lost was the #1 recruit in the Class of '15 and the younger sister of one of our current players. We could certainly use her production right about now. Programs like UConn can afford to lose out on a recruiting battle and still be dominant (see: Chiney -- if I recall correctly, UConn was one of her finalists). We don't have that luxury; losing out on an elite recruit that has the academic credentials to get in can set us back for a while -- as the stars align for us much more rarely.
Yes. Both Chiney and Nneka, as well as Jayne and Erica, were all recent UConn offers that turned UConn down for Stanford. The main ones I'm aware of that we definitely lost out on were Natalie Chou to Baylor and Mikayla Pivec to OSU. I think we've speculated that both Sabrina Ionescu (Oregon) and Katie Lou were admit-table, but I'm not sure that either went far enough along in the recruiting process at Stanford those this to 59er out for sure? A few years back, I think I recall that Kelsey Plum was admitted to Stanford, but I may be wrong. She may have just been offered but not yet admitted. BobK can correct I'm sure.

Oh, I thought Chou wasn't admittable, and Katie Lou actually got in, but ultimately decided to join Geno rather than her older sister, but I could be wrong.
