Hey Lurck, I saw Dr. Horrible for the first time tonight. Not bad, if only because of its unconventional ending.
Here's a few links for background reading:
The Big 12 conference realignment motivation scale: Essentially, who wants to go most.
The Longhorn Network is nuclear armageddon: Why OU and A&M are really, really steamed about the LHN, other than the usual reasons.
A&M and OU to SEC if LHN issues not resolved: And the ubiquitous unnamed sources quoting dire prophecies that make Cassandra look like a magic 8-ball.
The recruiting advantage detailed in the second link is pretty significant. That's Texas's (really, Mack Brown's) bread and butter--the coaching certainly has a long way to go, but it's already been improved with the departure of former OC Greg Davis. The other schools of the Big 12 are stuck with Texas. No other conferences really want them as far as I can see, except maybe the Big 10 absorbing Iowa State...and maybe the Kansas schools? Who wants to be in a conference where they named their divisions Leaders and Legends anyway? The comments of the third link allude to a future Pac-conference expansion, and maybe that is the future, although I think Congress should think about revoking the tax-exempt status of university athletic departments if superconferences begin forming. That always scares university ADs to a screeching halt (or it did this last time talk of the Pac-zilla conference was aired).
