WiM--
Add Zurmuhlen to the woman of the match list. Just tireless, and the best "workrate" of any of our midfielders: chasing down everything, getting her body in on lots of challenges.
Hing-Glover was definitely the weak link on the field, but she's playing because of the season-ending knee injury to Courtney Verloo, who was anticipated to move back in front from the center back this year. Verloo suffered that injury 3 days before the first match (which was one reason why our early season roadtrip had the only blemish on the record). The other weak link, and the one that could've cost us the match, was Kendall Romine, the other center back with Alina Garciamendez. She had some nice play today, but she can be counted on for one bone-headed play a game; in this case, the horrendous touch back that led to her making a desperation tackle that could've easily led to a PK. She got the ball cleanly, and it was less of a foul than the one of Chi, but still...
One of the best things about this match? Stanford won without a great individual game from any of their attackers.
More after a bit of processing...
