"Stanford was subjugated by Oregon, 45-27" -

Mercifully, I fell asleep around the start of the third, and woke up to a dark tv. I asked Siri what the score of the Stanford Oregon game was. The reply was: "Stanford was subjugated by Oregon, 45-27" .
You know it's bad when an AI digital assistant starts ridiculing your team . . . .

I didn't watch the game or see any commentary yet. The score doesn't really look like Stanford was subjugated (bring under domination). Maybe Siri should be taught to more closely examine a sporting event before offering a derisive opinion.

Sadly, Siri was spot on. Perhaps you might want to watch the game and read the commentary before you opine. . . .

I think that the headline should have been:
“Stanford castrated by Oregon.”

It was not as close as the score (an 18 point loss) indicated. Stanford got a meaningless touchdown within the last minute or so against the third team Oregon defense, and the Oregon offense pulled Bo Nix with about 10 min to go. It probably could have been 60-10 if Oregon hadn’t taken its foot off the gas.

60-10 is a conservative guess. Not only can this team not tackle but if you iso certain guys on D some won’t try to tackle.
This is a nightmare wrapped in an enigma wrapped in pig shit.

Yeah, nothing more emblematic than 210 lb Levani Danilo getting catoused by a 190 lb running back.

With eightish minutes to go in the first half, there was still cause for some hope. The score was 10-0 Ducks, but Stanford was driving and had first and goal at the Oregon 4.
In another year and with another Stanford team, we would have scored the TD and not merely settled for the FG. The gap would have been 3 points with 7 minutes and change remaining; and we could have imagined a defensive stop and potentially a FG to knot the score before the break.
But we took the 3, then gave up 21 unanswered points in the last 5 minutes of the half and went into the locker room trailing 31-3. Mind-boggling. This team was "subjugated" in rapid-fire fashion after kind of hanging with Oregon for most of the first half. Painful.

If you had watched the game, you'd know that Stanford was totally dominated on both sides of the ball, and our two late TDs don't erase that fact.; they obscure it.
Did any one stay tuned long enough to hear Shaw's latest attempt to put lipstick on a pig? I'd be interested to know what beauties he emitted.

Well it was nice of Oregon to not run up the score. Maybe some day Stanford will have a chance to return the favor.

This is what he said. Just the usual platitudes rehashed ad infinitum.

This game was not competitive from the first snaps of the game. At no point, even down 10, did Stanford play as if the team wanted it. The defense is bad and the offense likes watching the defense play. Terrible recipe for a football game.
The only reason it wasn’t worse was the penalties. Ducks gave just enough to make the score somehow look closer than it was.
The score at the end of the first half was reflective of the differences in these teams.

And but for the penalties against UO, the halftime score should have been 41-3 and well on the way to being quite close to my prediction; 52-14.

Heck, BC it was 31-3 at halftime. And not as “close” as that score indicated…..

Haven't had a Civil War reference in some time.
How about Stanford suppressed by Oregon. That was what Lee said he was going to do (and did) to Pope before Second Manassas.

Routed. Defeated in detail (referenced a unit-by-unit defeat).
