With Washington coming to town to play the Forty-Niners, the Merc did an article looking back at the Stanford mascot controversy in 1972.  Pretty well written, I thought, with interviews with Plunkett and many of the folks on both sides of the controversy at the time.  Interesting stories about Chief Prince Lightfoot I had not heard before.
